A new program is available to help with home heating costs serving Kennebec, Somerset, Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties through KVCAP. The Winter Energy Relief Program will provide a one-time benefit of $800 to eligible households. It is paid directly to your fuel or electricity provider if your application is approved. Fuel sources include #2 heating oil, propane, kerosene, wood/pellets, or bio-bricks. Eligible households may apply the benefit toward your electric bill if your heat source requires electricity.
NOTE: The income limits of this program are higher than the Federal HEAP program guidelines (up to 300% of the Federal Poverty Level). Income eligibility limits can be found here.
If your household has applied for HEAP and is considered eligible, the HEAP benefit must be exhausted before you can access this program.
