The Energy and Housing Services Department is dedicated to supporting the basic needs of low income families in Kennebec, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and Somerset counties to help them promote self sufficiency with the numerous programs within the Department and its team of skilled staff.
Energy & Housing Services Mission Statement: Energy and Housing Services is dedicated to developing strategies for those struggling with economic insecurity and working families in the community to:
- Improve energy efficiency to reduce the energy burden.
- Support affordable housing.
- Sustain opportunities for home ownership.
The Energy & Housing Services Department is dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-income residents of Kennebec, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and Somerset counties through the administration of its numerous programs. Some of the programs managed by Energy & Housing Services include the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP/Wx), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP), Department of Energy (DOE/Wx), Central Heating Improvement Program (CHIP), Above Ground Storage Tank (AGST), The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), Home Repair Network, Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP), Kennebec Valley Home Advisors Program (a fee for services program), Home Buyer Education, Sustain Mid Maine Energy Project, Mortgage Counseling and home ownership opportunities.
