Families In Transition

Augusta Transitional Housing for Teen Parents

What is the Families in Transition Program

The FIT program provides support services and education to tenants in KVCAP’s Augusta Transitional House. This house has three individual apartment units, two of which are handicap accessible.

The Augusta T-house is specifically designed for teen parents, through age 22, who meet the following criteria:

  • Homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.
  • Low income (1/2 of the median income for Kennebec County).
  • Teen parents under age 18 must be legally emancipated.

Tenants work with a case manager identifying their needs and setting goals that move them toward independent living.
