General Information

The South End Teen Center is available to any young person in the Greater Waterville area in grades 6-12. It is designed just for teens and is a great place to meet new friends or hang out with old friends in a safe and caring environment.

The South End Teen Center operates in collaboration with the Alfond Youth Center and is a satellite unit of the Waterville Area Boys & Girls Club. We are located at 5 Libby Court on the Waterville KVCAP Campus. Our hours are 2:15-5pm throughout the school year. During the summer we offer memorable field trips.

Youth supervision is provided by a full-time Teen Center Coordinator, part-time Teen Center Assistants, in addition to work-study students and volunteers from Colby and Thomas College.

What We Offer

• Structured programming to help youth make safe and healthy decisions
• After school snacks daily — 2 hot meals weekly
• Community service projects
• Staff available to help with homework
• Life skills & community involvement
• Pool table, foos ball table, arts and crafts
• A full computer lab for homework and personal use

Summer Schedule

During the summer school vacation the teen center is open a few days for drop in services. We do offer the following program components/activities during the summer:

Summer Blast is a series of trips to a variety of recreational sites in Maine during the month of July. Pre-registration is required. Full day trips include lunch.

Summer Lunch Program provides a box lunch to school aged children/youth Monday-Friday throughout the summer. The lunches are delivered daily by the Waterville Public schools and must be eaten at the teen center.

South End National Night Out Festival is coordinated by the South End Neighborhood Association and is held at the Green St. Park on the first Tuesday in August. Several teen center youth volunteers help with the event, including operating a “children’s game” section at the festival.
